Seeds can be slow to germinate (from 2 weeks to a few months), therefore, preparation of the seeds is essential. Lightly rub one or both sides of the seeds with fine sandpaper. Then soak them in lukewarm water for 48 hours but change the water after 24 hours. Do not use seeds that float. Sow 2-3 seeds inch deep in a pot in slightly moist soil filled with an organic, sterile, seed-starting mix. Cover with ventilated plastic to keep humidity. Place on a heat mat with temperature 75F and in a spot with indirect sunlight. Keep the soil slightly moist. Upon germination remove the plastic. Remove the heat mat after 3rd set of true leaves appears. Transplant outdoors in the sunny spot once they are 6 inches high. Space 36-60 inches apart. Keep the soil moist. Support plant with trellis.
