The Black Locust tree (Robinia pseudoacacia), sometimes referred to as Yellow Locust, is a deciduous tree native to the southeastern United States. It's known for its fragrant white flowers, hard wood, and thorny branches. Here are some key details about the Black Locust tree:
1. Appearance: Black Locust trees typically grow between 30 to 50 feet tall, but can reach up to 80 feet in optimal conditions. They have a narrow, irregular shape with a short trunk and brittle, angular branches.
2. Bark and Branches: The bark is deeply furrowed and dark, almost black in color, hence the common name "Black Locust". The tree has thorny branches and twigs.
